Welcome

The Rutherford County Chess Club (R.C.C.C.) was founded in 1992 and organized as a non-profit corporation in 2005. The club meets on Fridays at 7:00 P.M. at Grace Lutheran Church (map), 811 East Clark Boulevard, Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Club meetings are open to the public, and players of all ages and skill levels are welcome to attend our informal club meetings. Apart from the sporting aspect of the game, you will experience a cordial atmosphere in which you will make friends, which has been a key factor in the success of our club. Instruction for beginners is available, and we also offer standard tournament chess equipment.

The R.C.C.C. is an affiliate of the U.S.C.F. We usually hold two or three U.S.C.F. rated open Swiss tournaments each Summer and other U.S.C.F. and U.S.C.F. Quick tournaments throughout the year. For years, The Rutherford County Open, The Murfreesboro Grand Prix, and The Battle of Murfreesboro, have been some of the most popular tournaments in Tennessee, and they consistently draw players from several states. See our Tournaments page for tournament schedules, and check the maps for directions to the club and tournament sites.

For general questions about club activities, you may contact the club by mail at Post Office Box 1593, Murfreesboro, Tennessee 37133, and please address all correspondence to our President, Robert Guthrie. Or, you may send an email to our President, using the link on the left. Regarding specific website issues, please contact our Webmaster.

Features

Come play some casual chess at The Boro Bar & Grill on Sunday nights. There's plenty of smoking, drinking, eating, chess, intelligent conversation, more drinking, and not-so-intelligent conversation. We usually get there beteen 7:00 and 8:00 P.M. and play until about 11:00, or whenever we realize that we have to go to work the next morning. If you see us playing, just introduce yourself and ask for a game. During the Summer, we usually play outside on the patio, so you can't miss us.
